Unlikely Resource: Engagement Rings
I had the unique experience of going shopping for engagement rings recently with a friend whose boyfriend wants her to pick out her own ring. I was amazed and disturbed by a) how expensive everything was, and b) how it all starts to look the same. So I started poking around on Etsy and I found some really beautiful options! At great prices! Without blood diamonds! A few of my favorites are below but there are literally, thousands of options.
The first one, a grey diamond in 18K gold, is not super duper cheap. BUT it’s in my friend’s budget range, and it’s just gorgeous. And it’s grey. End of story.
This amazing sparkly and shattered glass-y pink diamond (which I would totally buy for myself if I had a reason for a self-treat)
This simple brushed gold band with a recycled diamond! Simple! Lovely! Eco!
This big diamond is funny, but I think it would be adorable to get this as like a “hey, until I can afford a real diamond” kind of ring. Or if you’re just really rock and roll.
And if you can’t afford a diamond but still want something that’s SO gorgeous and sparkly, here’s an aquamarine set in 14K gold.
My point is, there’s something for everyone in every price range, and if you’re looking for something handmade and unique, especially sustainable, recycled, and non-conflict, Etsy is a great place to look.
